How to be Successful in the Role:
This is such an exciting and foundational position to our Human Resources Department! To be successful, you will need a comprehensive understanding of Human Resources and related administrative processes. You will also need to bring with you experience working in HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and HCM (Human Capital Management) systems. Strong organization and time management skills are a must in this position; a lot can come at you fast and navigating it all with the appropriate sense of urgency is critical. Your keen eye for detail and assurance of accuracy will be applied to almost all that you do and ensure your success.
Your Future in this Role:
Initially, you will spend time getting up to speed on public sector HR practices and learning the nuances of the different teams we support. As a Human Resources Assistant, you are connected to and supporting not only to the other divisions within Human Resources, but all the departments within the County as well. Because you will learn processes and tasks covering a wide variety of administrative functions, this position lays the groundwork for many future opportunities and for career growth.
Core Daily Responsibilities:
- Respond to inquiries and provide information about Human Resources guidelines, policies, regulations, or procedures.
- Perform a variety of tasks and personnel transactions using the HCM system (Workday) and our applicant tracking system (NeoGov).
- Assist human resource staff in conducting and administering a variety of human resource functions such as recruitment and selection processes; wage and compensation surveys; leave administration; training; and employee relations activities.
- Assist with research projects; prepare written reports and statistical data.
- Take notes during investigatory and other confidential meetings.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis for qualifications listed
- Three years of general office/administrative experience
- At least 1 year of human resource related experience
- A cover letter must be submitted with your application
- Experience in Workday (HRIS/HCM system)
- Experience in NeoGov (Applicant Tracking System)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
