STATUS: EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: VICE PRESIDENT - DEI CULTURE & TALENT
DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES ADMIN
JOB CODE: 11433

PAY SCALE: $159,700.00 - $180,000.00 ANNUALLY

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and leading strategies aligned with business objectives that foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture. Additionally, you will lead the DEI team and collaborate with Human Resources, Enterprise development team with executive leadership, department heads, and drive DEI initiatives across all levels of the organization, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and laws. Understands external trends to develop execute and communicate comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion plans and initiatives that reflect the Credit Union's commitment toward towards best-in-class practices for hiring and developing talent that reflect the communities where we build and live.

 

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop, execute, and communicate a comprehensive DEI strategy aligned with the credit union's values and business goals. Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate DEI considerations into overall organizational planning.
  2. Work directly with CPO and HRVP-DEI to set Diversity & Inclusion talent strategies and success measures and build the path forward for our foundational Diversity & Inclusion program, as well as expand talent management and succession planning efforts (Aspiring Leaders, next generation leadership and mentorship programs).
  3. Serve as a thought leader and change agent, influencing senior leaders and department heads to champion DEI initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DEI considerations into all aspects of the organization.
  4. Facilitate Golden 1 Diversity & Inclusion Employee Council and establish/support Employee Resource Groups to build a more inclusive culture at Golden 1.
  5. Build relationships with external organizations, community groups, and networks to enhance the credit union's presence in promoting diversity, equity, and Inclusion internally and externally.
  6. Create and enhance policies, programs, and initiatives that support diversity, equity, and Inclusion throughout the organization, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and employee resource groups.
  7. Embrace digital transformation and collaborate with HR and digital teams to foster an inclusive digital culture that empowers diverse perspectives and ensure technological advancement are accessible and equitable.
  8. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives. Regularly assess progress, analyze data, and provide reports to executive leadership on the impact of DEI efforts.
  9. Partner with Talent Acquisition in support Golden 1's commitment towards best-in-class practices for hiring and developing talent that reflect the communities where we build and live.
  10. Partner with Human Resources and Enterprise Development, aligning and ensuring Diversity & Inclusion principles are embedded in retention, career development, performance & talent management, employee engagement program and tools.
  11. Regularly report programs and impact of DEI initiatives to Senior Leadership and relevant stakeholders.  Communicate success, and recommendations for improvement.
  12. Provide advice and insight to Business stakeholders regarding credit union programs in the community that support diversity, equality, and Inclusion.
  13. Stay current with laws, regulations, and best practices related to DEI and equal opportunity employment. Ensure the credit union's rules align with legal requirements and industry standards.
  14. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
  15. Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union's risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.
  16. Other duties as assigned. 

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to interact with credit union staff and management. 
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate a personal computer.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. INTERNAL:  All levels of staff. 
  2. EXTERNAL:  Community organizations, schools and government agencies, and news media.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or a related field or equivalent experience.

 

  1. EXPERIENCE: 7+ years related experience in DEI, Project Management in Station or broad extensive HR experience. Track record for delivering results through successful program design and implementation.

 

  1. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, influence, and drive cross functional collaboration.
  • Ability to understand and communicate with people across different cultures. 
  • Current knowledge and experience with D&I trends and/or research.
  • Embraces change and demonstrates the ability to drive transformational change by mobilizing the organization towards a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture.
  • Strong understanding of interplay between digital technologies, organizational culture, and Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives and make informed decisions.
  • Experience developing Employee Resource Groups (ERG).
  • Self-starter, excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across different cultures.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, navigate complexities, find common ground, and build consensus.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues. Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses digital learning agility.  Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to generate statistical reports.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
    • Corrected vision within the normal range.
    • Hearing within normal range.  A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
    • Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks.
    • Travels locally and statewide. Overnight and evening schedules included.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:  Certification in DEI is a plus.
