Sure Steel is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resource Director to lead the people operations of our expanding, nationwide company. The candidate must be able to lead an amazing team; develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures that complement the companys values; and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Human Resources, employee relations, performance management, compliance, strategic planning, payroll and talent acquisition. The ideal candidate would be fluent in Spanish and English to better serve our valued coworkers, but it is not required.

Leadership & Management

  • Guide, mentor, and motivate a team of skilled Human Resources professionals located in offices across the U.S.
  • Direct Human Resources with a focus on client service, considering Sure Steel's Service Offerings as our clients. All aspects of the Human Resources team prioritize delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee the smooth execution of daily operations within the Human Resources team.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing departmental and company-wide strategies, operations, and benefits, offering recommendations and presenting actionable insights to Sure Steel leadership.
  • Manage succession planning for team members occupying key roles.

Team Member Engagement

  • Forge meaningful connections with every Sure Steel team member.
  • Ensure that Sure Steel's culture and morale empower team members to embody Sure Steel's mission and values.
  • Act as a confidential sounding board for team members to discuss any potential issues or conflicts they may face.
  • Empower team members to navigate challenging conversations.
  • Conduct necessary investigations as required.
  • Assess employee engagement annually and equip teams and managers with the necessary resources to drive enhancements.
  • Organize recognition events for significant milestones in team members' lives, such as anniversaries and retirements.

Talent Acquisition

  • Collaborate with managers to anticipate talent requirements and cultivate relationships to maintain a pool of qualified candidates.
  • Engage with the Corporate Recruiter to:
  • Attract top talent to the organization.
  • Enhance screening, interviewing, and selection processes to prioritize candidate experience and culture-aligned hiring.
  • Oversee candidate screening, reference checks, and relevant assessments.
  • Maintain a repository of up-to-date job descriptions.

Onboarding & Ongoing Training

  • Ensure consistent, inspiring, and relevant onboarding experiences for new hires that emphasize Sure Steel's culture and encourage long-term retention.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities for all team members.
  • Collaborate with managers across the organization to create personalized professional development plans and career pathways for each team member.
  • Plan and execute training events in collaboration with Service Offering leaders.
  • Identify and engage internal and external experts, mentors, and coaches to impart both soft and technical skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Administer all Sure Steel's benefits, including health, dental, vision, 401k and various leave options.
  • Ensure that Sure Steel remains competitive in terms of compensation and benefits across diverse job functions and locations.
  • Monitor trends and forecasts to recommend adjustments to total compensation and benefits packages.
  • Provide year-round education to team members regarding benefit options and access.
  • Process all benefit changes in accordance with plan documents and legal requirements.

Compliance

  • Ensure alignment of company practices, policies, and procedures with federal and state laws.
  • Oversee workers' compensation administration, including processing claims and supporting injured team members.
  • Ensure all supervisors and leaders understand their responsibilities in the workers' compensation process.
  • Identify and recommend updates to company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the law while preserving company culture.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in Human Resources, employee relations, and/or recruitment and training is required.
  • At least 5 years' experience in successfully leading individuals and teams is necessary.
  • Bi-lingual. Able to fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience working in a multinational company and with a diverse workforce is preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of employment-related laws and regulations is essential.
  • Experience managing HRIS platforms is required. Experience with UKG preferred.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in HR, business, and/or management and leadership is preferred.
  • Experience in construction, architecture, manufacturing, or engineering is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and delegate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver projects with excellence and minimal supervision.
  • Capability to adapt to the needs of a diverse organization and team members with varying professional backgrounds.
  • References from managers, direct reports, and internal business partners (internal clients) will be requested.
