Director of Resiliency and Wellness

The Utah Attorney General's Office is seeking a Director of Resiliency and Wellness to oversee and administer the Officer Wellness Program.
The selected applicant will be tasked with planning, developing and executing a statewide Officer Wellness Program for the Utah Attorney General's Office and the Utah Internet Crime Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, coordinating programs with other state, federal and local governmental agencies and private organizations, providing technical assistance, coordinating applications for federal funds, developing cooperative relationships with allied agencies and organizations, directing the planning and development of research programs for mental health and Wellness issues, and drafting legislation.
Licensure in the State of Utah as a Psychologist is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working with law enforcement and/or child sexual abuse and trauma.
  • Provide psychological assessments and one-on-one sessions for exposed individuals.
  • Provide recommendations for preventative care for unit staff.
  • Provide resources and/or referrals for overall health and Wellness, to include. mental/emotional, occupational, physical, nutritional, family/social, financial and world view.
  • Reduce the negative impact on task force members and their families.
  • Reduce burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma for task force members.
  • Create training regarding self-care and stress management.
  • Create education for supervisors, staff, family members and significant others.
  • Implement team cohesion exercises.
  • Evaluates, plans and directs activities of the wellness program.
  • Sets goals, establishes priorities, manages resources, develops concepts and approaches, reviews projects progress and results; makes program management decisions.
  • Develops and coordinates plans and policies, resources, and training goals, vision, and expectations of agency or program; prepares and updates plans and priorities.
  • Oversees the development, evaluation or review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities; assesses feasibility of proposed plans, projects, and equipment.
  • Recommends, advocates and/or implements, new and or changes to existing policies and procedures, laws or regulations.
  • Coordinates program activities, services, and/or program implementation with private providers, other governmental entities, program users, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines, etc.
  • Supervises subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Represents agency interests on key legislative issues, task forces, committees, etc., and/or draft legislation, find sponsors, propose amendments, etc.

  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement personnel and culture.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality for task force members.
  • Understand the true nature and scope of child sexual abuse images and videos and the impact it has on officers.
  • Experience in dealing with law enforcement-related vicarious trauma.
  • Licensed in the State of Utah as a Psychologist (Ph.D.) or equivalent.
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
