Job Summary: This HR Generalist _ HRIS & Payroll, plays a pivotal role in managing and administering payroll and HRIS functions across the organization. In addition to standard payroll and HRIS responsibilities, this role provides crucial support to corporate-level initiatives and projects as well as support with Talent Acquisition. The Generalist ensures accurate and efficient payroll processing, maintains HRIS data integrity, and collaborates with corporate teams and Field HR to enhance HR processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Calculate and process employee payroll accurately and on time.
- Verify and reconcile payroll data, including hours worked, leaves, benefits, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll tax regulations.
- Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- HRIS Management:
- Maintain and update the HRIS database with employee information, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes.
- Generate HR reports and analytics to support corporate decision-making.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HRIS system issues.
- Collaborate with IT or HRIS vendors to implement system upgrades and enhancements.
- Corporate Support:
- Partner with corporate HR and cross-functional teams on strategic HR initiatives and projects.
- Provide HR and payroll data and insights to support corporate-level decision-making.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of company-wide HR policies and procedures.
- Support the integration of acquired companies into the HR and payroll systems.
- Compliance and Recordkeeping:
- Stay up-to-date with federal and state labor laws and regulations to ensure payroll and HRIS compliance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Assist in audits and compliance reporting as needed.
- Employee Self-Service (ESS):
- Train employees on how to use the ESS portal for accessing pay stubs, tax forms, and other HR-related documents.
- Provide technical support and guidance to employees using ESS.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and enhance payroll and HRIS processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for automation to streamline HR tasks.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with HR colleagues to support HR initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting and budgeting.
- Serve as a liaison between corporate departments and HR for payroll and HRIS-related matters.
- Talent Acquisition Support
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and create job descriptions that accurately reflect the roles.
- Source potential candidates through various channels, including job boards, social media, professional networks, and internal referrals.
- Review resumes and applications, conduct initial screenings, and present qualified candidates to hiring managers.
- Coordinate and schedule interviews, providing timely feedback to candidates throughout he process.
- Conduct reference checks and background screenings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent payroll certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in payroll processing and HRIS administration.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in HRIS software (Paylocity is a Plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Knowledge of data security and compliance standards.
- Excel knowledge is a plus.
- This is an on-site position and based out of our HQ office is Houston, TX.
Physical Demands: The position may require occasional lifting of boxes and materials, as well as sitting at a computer for extended periods.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment with standard hours but may require occasional overtime during payroll processing.
