Position Title:Senior HR Generalist & Payroll Manager

Job Summary: The Senior HR Generalist has a pivotal role within the Human Resources department, responsible for managing all aspects of HR functions with a specialized focus on payroll administration. This position requires a deep understanding of HR principles and practices, as well as expertise in payroll processing and compliance. The Senior HR Generalist collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Payroll Administration: Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, including data entry, payroll calculations, deductions, and tax filings. Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  2. HRIS Management: Serve as the primary administrator of the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) platform, including system configuration, data maintenance, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with IT and vendors to implement system updates and enhancements.
  3. Timekeeping and Attendance: Manage timekeeping systems and processes to accurately track employee hours worked, paid time off (PTO), and attendance. Address discrepancies and ensure adherence to company policies and labor laws.
  4. Benefits Administration Support: Assist with benefits administration tasks, such as enrollments, terminations, and changes. Coordinate with benefits providers to ensure accurate deductions and timely updates to employee records.
  5. Compliance and Reporting: Stay current on payroll laws, regulations, and tax requirements to ensure compliance. Prepare and submit payroll-related reports, filings, and audits as required by government agencies.
  6. Payroll Policies and Procedures: Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and documentation to standardize processes and ensure consistency. Train HR staff and managers on payroll-related policies and procedures.
  7. Employee Inquiries and Support: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and deductions. Provide guidance and assistance to employees on payroll matters and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  8. Payroll Audits and Reconciliations: Conduct periodic audits and reconciliations of payroll data to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy. Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to address any discrepancies and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
  9. Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, improve efficiency, and enhance data accuracy. Implement process improvements and automation tools to optimize payroll operations.
  10. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with HR team members, finance, accounting, and IT departments to ensure seamless integration and alignment of payroll processes with overall HR and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field. HR certification (e.g., CPP, SHRM-CP, PHR) is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in HR roles with a focus on payroll administration and HRIS management.
  • Proficiency in payroll processing software (e.g., BambooHR, ADP, Paychex, Workday) and HRIS systems.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and tax compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to employees and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION


Work sitting and standing / walking.  Work also requires occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds when retrieving materials, moving boxes and maneuvering tables and chairs for training sessions and human resource meetings.  These activities also require occasional bending, twisting and reaching.
