Please note: this is an on-site position at our production facility in Johnstown, PA. Possibility of hybrid work schedule may be available after first 6 months.

Kongsberg Protech Systems USA develops and produces the remote weapon system PROTECTOR / CROWS and advanced communications solutions. Our systems are world leading and we see a positive growth, which means several new and exciting challenging projects.

Essential functions of the HR Generalist - Benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • Represent KPS USA on US Benefit Committee. Influence decisions within the committee and work with brokerage firm on provider and plan changes. Understand market trends and employee needs in order to create benefits package that increases marketability and recruiting.
  • Administer all company-provided benefits programs. Assist employees with completing benefits paperwork and counsel employees on benefits programs. Create and administer annual open enrollment process and benefit fairs. Responsible for entry and termination of benefits, as well as reconciling benefits invoices. Implement wellness program and initiatives using available wellness funds.
  • Tracks and administers leave policies (short-term and long-term disability, FMLA, Paid Time Off, other medical and personal leaves, as applicable). Reconcile with Payroll.
  • Assists in managing Worker's Compensation claims among all company locations, per individual state requirements. May be needed to assist with processing of claims, attend WC hearings and administer other functions of WC policy. Responsible for case management in conjunction with Occupational Health facility, corporate risk management, HR manager and WC carrier. Applies for annual WC rebates from applicable states. Partners with HR manager and HSE advisor to find solutions which minimize WC costs.
  • Work with internal HSE Manager to maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordkeeping on recordables and lost time accidents. Investigates workplace illness, accidents and injuries.
  • Assist with the development of Human Resources policies for the company with regard to employee relations. Partners with HR manager to assist in communication of HR policies, procedures, programs and laws. Assist in providing employee relations practices necessary, including but not limited to - responding to employee complaints or concerns - to establish a positive employer-employee relationship.

A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field. Professional credentials in either SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is preferred but not required. Minimum 5 years of related HR Generalist, with specific benefits related experience, preferably in a manufacturing and office environment is required.

Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and other software tools, such as ERP, HRIS, benefits systems, etc. Candidates must be available for some overtime, as necessary.

Must be able to acquire a US passport and pass a comprehensive background check. International and domestic travel will be required, as necessary. (Approximately 10% of the time.)

Good international cultural awareness and interest in how to adapt to collaboration with other departments, both nationally and abroad.
