POSITION SUMMARY: Human Resources Generalist:
Human Resources Generalist with Focus on Worker’s Compensation/Leaves of Absence
Under general direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management in participating in multiple Human Resources functions such as worker’s compensation claims, leaves of absence, investigations, employee relations, benefits, safety, training, record keeping, performance management, policy implementation, communication, and employment law compliance.
JOB DUTIES: Human Resources Generalist:
- Assists in the implementation of personnel policies for all employees.
- Communicates and interacts with employees to complete accident investigation and root cause analysis for all worker’s compensation claims.
- Liaison between employees and insurance company.
- Handles all workers’ compensation claims throughout the life of the claim.
- Works closely with attorneys regarding any worker’s compensation litigation claims
- Responsible for completing, updating, and reporting OSHA logs for all facilities.
- Handles all FMLA and LOA for employees. Works closely with payroll regarding same.
- Audits and partakes in performance appraisals; coordinate with supervisors to discuss each of their department’s employees’ evaluation (30-day evaluation, 70-day evaluation, and annual evaluation).
- Informs and explains company provided benefits (medical benefits, 401k benefits, etc.) to current employees and upon yearly renewal.
- Maintains personnel records ensuring timely and accurate records in HRIS system.
- Handles employee relations counseling; partakes and conducts employee investigations, when needed.
- Handles employee verifications, when needed.
- Conducts and administers terminations and disciplines when needed.
- Assists with employee engagement events.
- Responsible for completing and filing unemployment claims and attending unemployment hearings when needed.
- Other human resources functions assigned by the manager.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Human Resources Generalist:
- Bachelor’s degree: Human Resources or Business-related field is required
- 5+ years’ experience in an HR Generalist position.
- 2+ years’ experience handling worker’s compensation claims.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment is strongly desired.
- Experience in a manufacturing company is preferred.
- PHR/SHRM Certification preferred.
- Experience with an HRIS system (Kronos experience is desired).

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Cold Storage Facility Experience is a plus.

Salary: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
