We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join our team. The HR Assistant will provide administrative support to the Human Resources team and assist in various HR functions to ensure the smooth operation of HR processes.
Whitaker Construction LLC, founded in 1953, has over 70 years of experience in the heavy civil and underground utility construction industry. Whitaker, an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, has become one of the largest contractors in the intermountain area with more than 600 employees and nearly 70 crews. We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.
Core Responsibilities:
Employee Onboarding:
- Prepare new employee welcome packets and ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately.
- Coordinate orientation schedules and assist in conducting orientation sessions.
- Facilitate the setup of new employee profiles in HR systems.
- Oversee the mentoring program for newly hired employees.
HR Administration:
- Maintain and update employee records and HR databases.
- Update and maintain job descriptions.
- Assist in administering employee benefits programs.
- Respond to inquiries from external parties regarding employment verification.
- Compile data for HR reports and presentations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of HR events and retirements parties.
- Additional duties as assigned from HR management.
Recruitment Support:
- Assist in posting job openings on social media platforms.
- Screen resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates for open positions.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate with recruiters.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR administration, business, communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience of 1 to 3 years in an administrative role, preferably in HR or related field.
- Knowledge of HR processes and procedures.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment and reliability is paramount for the seamless functioning of our team on a day-to-day basis.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
