Support the goals of the Human Resources Department by providing timely, accurate, and consistent information to our customers. Duties include answering a multi-line phone, answering email & voicemail HR inquiries, assisting walk-in customers, advising employees and supervisors regarding policies, researching information in over 15 HR systems, creating and distributing communications, and suggesting significant process improvements for other HR units to increase both efficiency and accuracy. Refer customers to other departments or organizations when necessary. First line of defense against a variety of potential employee relations issues regarding pay, performance management, policy interpretation and more. Also responsible for a variety of HR technical duties such as income verifications, additional deductions, child support verification, and co-leading HR Champions (a city-wide group).
Duties/Responsibilities
- Responds to inquiries from supervisors, management, employees, and the public via email, phone, and walk-in regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Performs human resources technical duties including: Processes new hire benefits and enter employee benefits data into the City's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, and processes separation benefits through the City's benefits administration system.
- Leads on the job trainings for changes being made within the department; Verifies and reviews employee request for sick leave balances and verification, benefits confirmation, sick leave donations, and employment verifications; Updates Quickbase case tracking and wellness program systems to add and make changes to employee information while maintaining up to date database.
- Provides technical guidance to supervisors, management, employees and the public regarding Benefits, Compensation & Classification, Employee Relations, Onboarding & Professional Development, and Talent Management.
- Process improvement to HR department and training to HRC staff through technical trainings, 1:1 trainings, webinars & strategic initiatives.
- Prepares and delivers citywide and targeted communications including promotional posters/fliers and formatted email notifications regarding Human Resource initiatives.
- Manages and coordinates the completion of special projects including creating and maintaining department intranet pages, updating and maintaining COSMO, producing informative resources on HR initiatives.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human resources, business, management or related field.
- One year of related experience that includes a general familiarity with human resources policies and procedures, experience in customer service or contact center environments and familiarity with database maintenance.
