The River Terrace Inn (RTI) features luxurious accommodations, personalized service, and a pristine riverfront setting. The River Terrace Inn is an enchanting blend of modern elegance, laid-back California charm and the energy of downtown Napa is just steps away from Napa's best shopping, tasting rooms, and Oxbow Market. The hotel serves up high-country cuisine at onsite restaurant and bar ALBA, which features weekly live music and a riverfront patio.
A DAY IN THE LIFE...
The Front Desk Supervisor is responsible for managing their own team of employees, providing excellent customer service and overseeing daily activities of their respective organizations. Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Front Desk functions, in accordance with hotel standards. Directs, implements and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff.
Making sure that phones are promptly answered; correspondence is kept within a reasonable time frame; providing assistance to their team or stepping in to fill in for an employee who is on break or has failed to show up for work.
•Oversee and supervise all duties performed by all Front Desk employees.
•Coach & Counsel employees when necessary, using proper documentation and proper techniques.
•Ensure that all Front Desk employees complete their essential duties before their departure.
•Ensure that all Front Desk employees are posted at their stations at posted time. Assist with all sick calls or tardiness by finding proper coverage, reporting to work, and staying until proper coverage can be found.
•Assist with any scheduled shift problems on the Night audit shifts.
•Accountable for the proper training and daily monitoring of all service levels provided by employees to guests and other fellow employees.
•Accountable for meeting or exceeding levels of service required by the Mystery Shopper Survey.
•Monitor and maintain proper Front Desk operational supplies.
•Accountable for meeting or coming in under payroll and expense budgets.
•Accountable for maintaining and monitoring that all employees follow proper cash handling procedures.
•The ability to ensure the proper image is being maintained by all team members with respect to grooming and uniform standards.
•The ability to make suggestions for improvements in overall operations with an emphasis on increasing guest satisfaction, and revenues as well as reducing costs.
•Ensure proper inventory controls, working with Sales and Reservations to ensure maximum selling potential and house balance.
•Ensure accuracy of groups, rooming lists, billing, amenities, arrivals, etc.
•Maintain cleanliness and organization of back desk, Front Desk, and bell closet.
YOU OWN THIS IF YOU HAVE:
A positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Experience of motivating and leading a winning team. Ability to remain calm whilst under pressure. Knowledge of hospitality management software - Alice a plus.
  • High school diploma required; two to three years' Front Desk experience
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Prior experience required. Depending on the role degree may be required.
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or telephone. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
