Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Help Desk Technician is an Information Technology (IT) position which interacts with all levels of employees in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. The Help Desk Technician acts in a customer service capacity, providing Help Desk assistance to internal staff, performs basic facilities maintenance, and assists external clients in a customer service capacity in support of all Sanborn locations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
Help Desk
- Review and respond to Help Desk requests involving processes to final ticket resolution.
- Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
- Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware utilized by the organization.
- Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level to include installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications, building PC’s, and applying diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
- Perform preventative and ongoing maintenance, including maintaining proper supplies, and checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
- Maintaining badge card readers, ID badges, and associated equipment/software.
IT Support
- Track/maintain inventory of IT equipment including blank, and data filled media.
- Assist with purchase of backup hardware and servers and act as backup/assistant on data management tasks, such as restore/backup requests and blank media requests.
- Acts as backup resource for network and systems administration tasks.
- Prepare telephones and IT hardware (laptops, peripherals, data storage, etc.) for new employees as requested. Maintain an inventory of equipment.
- Install antivirus software and monitor scans across Sanborn’s network.
- Organize and maintain health of Active Directory Provisioning and Windows Server.
- Basic SharePoint administration and assist with basic system administration duties.
Facilities and Shipping/Receiving Administration
- Overall responsibility for effective, on time, and accurate shipping/receiving functions and distribution of data storage hardware for delivery to clients.
- Coordinate with facility vendors and coordinate building maintenance with the Landlord.

EDUCATION:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) from accredited college or university in a relevant discipline, such as information technology, computer science, etc. or with relevant previous work experience.
EXPERIENCE:
One year practical experience working on computers. Basic understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems. Understanding of network protocols including: DHCP, DNS, FTP, SSH, and SMB.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to interpret reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Full-Time Hourly Pay Range $20-25 hour
