Job Description
Summary of Duties: The Health & Wellness Director is responsible for the daily management and oversight of the center’s health and wellness program in compliance with Job Corps program requirements, corporate guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations. The Health and Wellness Director provides and oversees the delivery of health services, support, and education that will enhance the student employability and reinforce the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle and ensures that quality health services are delivered in a professional, student-focused manner.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
- Promotes the Wellness Program initiatives and functions.
- Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no confidentiality and manipulation of student information/data.
- Ensures proper documentation and accountability of student’s medical records.
- Provides prevention and intervention services and short-term treatment that will enhance student participation in the program and employability.
- Ensures staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities.
- Provides documented training to staff. Cross-trains department employees.
- Coordinates staff meetings.
- Ensures that all staff participate in CMT.
- Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensures department is compliant with all safety standards and expectations to include proper workmen’s compensation reporting.
- Ensures department is in compliance with all DOL, Corporate and Center requirements.
- Promotes healthy choices that will have a positive impact on student’s physical and emotional well-being.
- Provides students with information and skills that will allow them to make
- appropriate choices regarding health care needs and to demonstrate acceptable workplace behavior that will enhance their opportunity for employment.
- Provides for cursory and complete medical examinations including all PRH requirements.
- Provides for immunization program in accordance with CDC guidelines and the National Office of job Corps.
- Provides daily walk-in services for routine care and establishes an appointment system for follow up care.
- Provides patient assessment, triage, and treatment.
- Provides emergency care including first aid, CPR, and coordination of emergency services on and off Center.
- Assures 24 -hour emergency care with written arrangements for local community facilities to provide medical, dental, mental health and inpatient care.
- Credentials:
Education and Experience
Must possess Registered Nurse (RN) credential
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing
Must maintain an active, unrestricted license to practice in state where center is located.
Certifications, Licenses, Registration
Valid state driver’s license
Current State Professional Nurse License
Current First Aid/CPR certification.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Directors, clients, customers and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment
