GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Group Sales Managers are expected to sell the hotel to their assigned segment through group contracts. They are responsible for supporting their team members in the goal of making and exceeding the hotel’s monthly and yearly budget. He or She will be responsible for prospecting and research for new group business, making outside and inside sales calls, developing new accounts, negotiating agreements, writing contracts, creating net sheets managing groups, writing group resumes, providing weekly reports, collecting signed contracts, collecting deposits, collecting payments, Doing shop calls to keep up to speed with the competition, building relationships with travel partners, neighboring hotels, and hotel staff. To serve as a liaison with the community, support with inventory, amenity requests, developing new group marketing projects, and representing the hotel at Trade shows. If budget is not achieved on three consecutive months, you will be subject to a critical review.
They will assist the Sales team with directories, presentations, special projects and promotions and anything directed by the Director of Sales and Marketing and General Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Achieve budgeted sales goals on a quarterly basis.
- Work hand in hand with team members to increase revenue. Responsible for monthly sales goals.
- Participate in weekly Sales, Marketing, Revenue and Staff meetings.
- Prospect, research, and makes inside and outside sales calls for the hotel.
- Support Catering and other team members to meet team goals.
- Responsible for training new Sales Managers in the sales process and in closing business.
- Assist in ordering collateral and promotional material when needed.
- Collaborate with team members on special events both internal and external.
- Performs site inspections.
- Plans and hosts FAMs.
- Communicates with team members both verbally and in writing to answer questions and provide clear directions in advising and instructing staff in details of promotions, group needs and tasks.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays is required.
- Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must prepare complex reports of promotional availability and revenue generating campaigns.
- Must be knowledgeable and possess the ability to perform all Opera essential functions and supportive functions.
- Assist with marketing inventory and promotional items for the Sales Office if needed.
- Consistent verbal and written communication with DOSM as well as department heads and clients.
- Creates Amenity requests.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a confident self 'starter with the ability to manage a project from start to completion. Hands on knowledge of the hospitality industry is important. Strong communication and organizational skills a must. Detail oriented, creative, personable, articulate, and a creative problem solver preferred. Desire to be a part of a great company and the drive to work for great results is a must.
- Strong PC skills, especially current Windows, Word, Excel, Ability to think critically.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required
- Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
