Summary:
Bakers are responsible for assembling, mixing, forming, baking and otherwise handling all Kind Crumbs products. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- All aspects of production, from mixing of ingredients to cooling and packaging of product, with the support of bakery assistants
- A strict emphasis on product uniformity and quality control
- Immediately notifying Lead Baker/Bakery Manager of any variances/problems with batches
- Careful adherence to recipes and processes
- Checking products in ovens to avoid overbaking or underbaking
- Discussing any proposed changes in processes or recipes with Bakery Owner
- Notifying Bakery Manager of inventory/supply needs
- Gathering all needed ingredients prior to starting each batch
- Making sure ingredients are used in proper rotation
- Minimizing waste by labeling and refrigerating/freezing extra ingredients, glazes, based on anticipated usage
- Maximizing efficiency of baking team by working quickly and avoiding distractions such as excessive conversation (especially during batch assembly)
- Making deliveries
- Greeting customers/answering phone in absence of Customer Service Rep
- Assisting with packing/checking orders as needed
- Assisting with invoices in absence of Customer Service Rep
Job Requirements:
- At least 1 year of baking experience in a commercial bakery, or completion of at least 1 year of culinary/pastry chef education, or equivalent training provided by Kind Crumbs
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to begin work shifts as early as 6 am
- Ability to work mostly on foot for up to 8 hour shifts, including ability to work for 4 hours on foot in between breaks
- Good math skills
- Careful attention to detail
- Ability to lift and move 10-30 pound boxes or bags repeatedly throughout the day
- Ability to lift/team lift and dump 50 pound bags of flour once or twice a shift
- Ability to wash dishes in a commercial sink, mop and do other bakery-related physical activities
- Ability to work in an environment with gluten-free flours, xanthan gum and other ingredients in the air
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
