In this position, you will be responsible for spearheading the Student Success Teams at both the Jackson and Owosso campuses, overseeing the delivery of personalized, holistic support to every student.  From managing student conduct to overseeing health and wellness programs, your influence will shape the student experience at our institution. You'll be at the forefront of implementing student-friendly policies and procedures, fostering a supportive environment where diversity and inclusion thrive.

 

As a prominent leader across our Jackson & Owosso campuses, your presence will be felt at student events and crucially, you'll serve as the frontline contact for crisis intervention. Be the guiding force ensuring our campuses remain safe, supportive, and conducive to student well-being. Collaborating with campus departments and community partners, you'll lead projects that enhance student success and promote a safe and inclusive campus culture.

We seek a workforce with a wide range of perspectives and experiences, we provide opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or genetic information. Please visit our DEI Page to learn more about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Baker College. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Lead campus Student Success Team to ensure each student is getting individualized, holistic, andproactive support.Provide campus-level management for student conduct, health and wellness, basic needs, residentiallife, and student life, while participating in the assessment of program strategies, initiatives, andcampaigns.Oversee operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unitobjectives.Participate as a member of the Student Affairs administrative team and work with peers and othercampus departments for effective and efficient administration, including the effective use oftechnology platforms for enhancing involvement efforts.Be responsible for handling campus-level Student Affairs staffing decisions, including personnel actionsand discipline.Operate as a visible leader, being present at student-related events to ensure that students feelcomfortable approaching the Director of Student Affairs.Serve as the campus’ point of contact for crisis intervention with students; interfaces with the Dean ofStudents, Campus Safety, and local law enforcement regarding student/campus emergencies andcomplex student issues. Serves as the Dean of Students’ campus-designee for addressing studentdeaths, parent/family needs, campus vigils, and other student-related concerns.Assume a visible and genuine commitment to diversity, mutual respect, intellectual freedom, anduniversity citizenship, and engage in collaborative initiatives to promote an inclusive and safe campusenvironment.Compile data and prepare reports.Participate in campus-wide research efforts to assess ways to enhance student success.Present at various on and off campus events. Washington Street, Owosso, Michigan 48867 RequirementsThe ideal candidate for the Director of Student Affairs position will possess a Master’s Degree in fields such as Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Education, or a closely related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the realm of Student Affairs. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates holding a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or Leadership.
