The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track professor position at the rank of full, associate, or Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Ethics of AI and Emerging Technologies that begins Fall 2024.
Area of Specialization (at least one of the following): Philosophy of Technology/Computation, Philosophy of Mind/Cognitive Science, or Philosophy of Science (all broadly construed)
Area of Competence: Ethics of Emerging Technology
Candidate will contribute to teaching and advising in our undergraduate and graduate M.A. program and contribute significantly to the LSU Ethics Institute and its relevant grant-writing and programming activity in collaboration with partners across campus. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active record of research, publication, and to teach two courses per semester (four courses per year). Experience with trans-disciplinary collaboration is preferred. We are a pluralistic department and encourage applicants from all philosophical traditions to apply.
Required Qualifications:
For candidates applying at the Assistant Professor rank: A PhD or equivalent degree in Philosophy prior to appointment.
For candidates applying at the Associate or Full Professor rank: A PhD or equivalent degree in Philosophy prior to appointment, and a minimum of 6 years (Associate) or 10 years (Full) of higher education experience with a proven record of excellence in teaching and scholarship.
