Job Purpose
To effectively and efficiently check in patients, verify insurance eligibility, confirm and/or reschedule appointments as needed, and collect payments for services provided.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Gather information from patients and scan information into an electronic data base
- Answer phone calls
- Scheduling appointments
- Confirm insurance eligibility and coverage and answer related questions
- Protect confidentiality and sensitivity of patient information
- Report equipment trouble and other safety concerns to Office Manager
- Participate in daily staff and office meetings
- Understand and follow state and federal HIPAA regulations, OSHA laws, infection control, and safety standards within a dental office.
- Ensure all record keeping requirements are fully and accurately completed.
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Understand and follow insurance plan rules and protocols.
- Communicate with office staff regarding issues, concerns, goals, etc.
- Administrative tasks: filing, scheduling, data entry, preparing forms, record keeping, printing documents, etc
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications/ Skill Sets
- Exceptional customer/patient service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand information and effectively present information one-on-one with patients.
- Ability to carry out written or verbal instructions
- Basic computer knowledge > Microsoft Office strongly preferred
- Ability to work in fast paced, patient-focused environment.
- Detail oriented
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to recognize and be sensitives to patients' emotions
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Prior Experience is preferred but not required
Work Conditions
- Environment is fast paced, well-lit, and clean
- Work area is usually near the dental chair
- Dental assistants may work full time or part time. Some evening or weekend hours may be required, depending on the practice.

Availability Required
Working Hours: M-F, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM and Sat, 8:30 AM - 4 PM
Part Time:
- 2-3 days per week (up to 30 hours per week)

Full time:
- 30 - 40 hours a week, about 4-5 days
- alternating Saturdays
- Full day shifts
