Position Overview:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and professional Front Desk Receptionist to join our optometry office team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing administrative tasks. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a positive patient experience and smooth office operations.
Responsibilities:
Greet Patients: Welcome patients with a warm and friendly demeanor as they arrive at the office, providing a positive first impression.
Appointment Scheduling: Efficiently manage patient appointments, ensuring accuracy and proper scheduling to optimize the flow of the office.
Patient Registration: Collect and update patient information accurately, including insurance details and medical history.
Answer Inquiries: Address patient inquiries via phone, email, or in-person, providing helpful information regarding services, appointments, and general inquiries.
Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and process insurance claims accurately to ensure seamless billing procedures.
Collect Payments: Handle patient payments, co-payments, and outstanding balances, providing receipts and maintaining financial records.
Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the Front Desk area neat and organized, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for patients.
Assist with Office Tasks: Support optometrists and other staff members with various administrative tasks, such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
Patient Education: Provide basic information regarding optometric procedures, eyewear options, and general eye health to patients as needed.
Appointment Reminders: Contact patients to remind them of upcoming appointments, helping to reduce no-show rates and maximize appointment availability.
Qualifications:
Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with patients and colleagues effectively.
Customer Service Experience: Prior experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a healthcare or service-oriented setting, is highly beneficial.
Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using computer systems for appointment scheduling, billing, and general office tasks. Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a plus.
Professionalism: Present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to office policies and procedures.
Team Player: Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of the office and provide support as needed.
Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as required by the demands of the office.
Education and Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional certification or training in medical office administration or healthcare management is advantageous but not mandatory.
