Who You Are
We're looking for a Freelance Director of Brand Strategy for a three-month contract.
You excel as a strategically smart, creatively inspiring thinker and doer. You’re equally effective in digging into the work and leading by example as you are mentoring team members and growing their talent.
You are a master when it comes to all things Brand Strategy and you’re comfortable and confident collaborating with connections and data strategy leads.
You love and understand creative people and the messiness and magic of the creative process. You infuse your own creativity into everything you do.
You know how to own and influence a room full of clients, and your colleagues want to sit next to you on an airplane, maybe even willingly in the middle seat, because you’re a pleasure to be around.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a creatively ambitious thinker-leader-doer of a Brand Strategy Director who believes in creativity that drives heartbeats and builds brand love. This role requires you to move fluidly between intuition and rigor to solve complex marketing and business problems and demands you:
- Confidently lead Brand Strategy and creative discovery (including owning primary research) that delivers real insights, breakthrough brand positionings, smart briefs, and compelling creative thought-starters.
- Mentor and support the growth of DNA’s strategy offering and fellow team members with experience and confidence.
- Partner with connections and data strategy and feel a passion for the ever-evolving digital world - how consumers use new channels and how brands can participate in authentic ways
- Have a strong track record of inspiring creative excellence and have earned industry recognition for your work.
- Champion collaboration and want...enjoy...getting knee-deep in the process individually and with the team.
- Think, speak, and write persuasively to sell and defend creative thinking and ideas including to the most senior-level clients.
- Are inspired to develop thought-leadership pieces and new qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
- Take a wide-angle approach to strategy, incorporating culture and trends to deliver fresh insights that spark brand love.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience in strategy roles at creatively driven advertising agencies, including serving as a director on a client portfolio or major brand.
- Experience managing people and a point-of-view about what it takes to be an excellent manager.
- Extensive consumer research knowledge (qualitative and quantitative) is

CONTRACT
Contract Freelance Director of Brand Strategy:
3-month contract / 20 hours per week
Monthly Project Fee Pay Range: $16,000 -$18,000
LOCATION
Seattle Office: DNA is working a Hybrid schedule; required in office days are Tuesdays & Thursdays of each week for employees who live in the Seattle metro region.
Currently, we are open to this role being fully REMOTE for qualified candidates in the following states only: Oregon, California & New York (New York City) only.
