Food Safety Manager

The Food Safety Manager will oversee the Food Safety and Quality Systems for the Morton Grove Site. Monitor the site for compliance and identify areas for continuous improvement. Utilize current training programs and develop new programs that ensure the site understands the requirements to maintain our certifications. Be the key contact for audits and update all certifications as defined by the standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES: * People Leadership and Development: Support the Site Manager in the growth and development of the staff, including: feedback for performance evaluations, collecting feedback from the staff and implementing ideas that will enhance the Food Safety at the site
* Responsible for Morton Grove Food Safety and Quality Systems. If receive reports of Food Safety or Quality problems, initiate action to resolve
* SQF Practitioner
* Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the Food Safety and Quality Systems and specifically the SQF system
* Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system
* Reporting any Food Safety and quality problems to Head of Production or Managing Director to initiate action and resolve
* Complying with SOPs, GMPs and safety programs
* Performing HACCP and Food Defense tasks as needed
* Assist with completing regulatory information requests as needed
* Participate as member of internal crisis management team
* Other duties as may be assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor"s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related field * 5+ years of experience of a combination of people leadership and working in a lab environment * Experience in a manufacturing environment and maintaining GFSI and / or ISO 9001 standards * Proven Food Safety expertise in a manufacturing environment
