Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for our Arlington, VA office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in the engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private sector and public sector. We execute large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.

Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for our Arlington, VA office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in the engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private sector and public sector. We execute large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
- Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
- The Fire Protection Engineering Intern will work closely with other engineers, executing tasks assigned by the department manager including developing fire suppression designs, fire alarm designs, mass notification system designs and performing life safety code analysis work.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or in another related field.
- Candidate must have completed one year of qualified study in their University program.
- Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and similar Microsoft suite products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Non-Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Virginia locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00.
