Serves as a Fire Protection Engineer and is responsible for the performance of all aspects of professional engineering duties pertaining to project planning, design, construction and repair of buildings and other assigned duties.

The GS-11 salary range starts at $64,649. The GS-12 salary range starts at $77,488 per year. Your salary will be dependent upon the location for which you are selected.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GS-11:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the Basic Requirements above, You must have either: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related; AND/OR at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience applying Fire Protection Engineering concepts, principles & practices; and assisting in all or large phases of projects concerned with resolving Fire Protection and life safety problems.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GS-12:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience under a senior level Fire Protection Engineer and providing input into Fire Protection and prevention systems designs to include: making calculations and developing analyses and specifications for Fire Protection and prevention engineering features; performing reviews of Fire Protection and prevention systems; writing and reviewing specifications for Fire Protection and prevention systems; and, interpreting and applying fire codes, standards, and directives to designs and reviews.
