Job Title:Fire Protection Engineer
Location: Buffalo, NY

Position Summary
The Fire Protection Engineer will plan, direct, and coordinate the fire testing laboratory operations of Guardian Fire Testing Laboratories. Duties and responsibilities include scheduling daily operations of the lab, performing tests, writing test reports and engineering evaluations, and planning the use of resources.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with existing and potential clients in determining the best course of action with their companies’ objectives.
- Perform, evaluate, and write reports of result for various tests in accordance with all applicable standards, codes, and accreditations
- Ability to coordinate and/or construct test assemblies to applicable standards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Overall understanding of fire testing of building construction materials, particularly doors
- Understanding of building codes
- Strong understanding of test standards, UL10B, UL10C, ASTM E84, ASTM E119, Hose stream
- Strong understanding of NFPA 80 and door evaluations
- Superior analytical skills
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions
- Ability to work well in high pressure situations while meeting strict deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and manage numerous simultaneous priorities
Competencies Required:
- Makes confident, fact-based decisions using logic and reasoning to work through problems and analyze information
- Approaches problems from different perspectives in order to suggest and implement ideal solutions
- Facilitates communication between team members
Minimum Qualifications:
- Engineering degree, required – Fire Protection Engineering degree preferred
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time or more. Ability to lift 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
