The pay range is vastly different because we are hiring for either a full time Staff Accountant, or, a full time controller.

Job Summary:

Pronoia Labs, a fast-growing company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Accountant with experience in managing inventory and understanding Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). This role involves comprehensive involvement in internal financial management, encompassing corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation. The candidate will also be responsible for developing internal standard operating procedures across multiple departments and entities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with departmental staff to ensure accurate accounting of transactions.
• Perform account reconciliations in QuickBooks and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts receivable and payable, and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Set up and manage vendor information and relationships.
• Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts, including reconciliations.
• Assist with the monthly closing processes.
• Oversee employee reimbursements, including reporting and analysis.
• Handle inter-company billings, transactions, and reconciliations.
• Manage sales commission reporting and payment processes.
• Conduct inventory and cost accounting variance analysis.
• Manage quarterly sales tax reporting.
• Support the month-end and year-end close process.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Assist in developing and documenting internal accounting processes and policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Act as a liaison with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned, including ad-hoc projects, financial statement preparation, and report generation.

Requirements:

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including handling inventory and understanding COGS.
• 3 years of experience in general ledger analysis and journal entry preparation preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a finance-related field.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Proficiency or advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Dropbox and/or GoogleDrive.
• Exceptional attention to detail; yes exceptional.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve discrepancies in financial systems.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
• Leadership skills and experience in guiding junior staff.
• Proficiency in financial software and systems, ie Quickbooks.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees and vendors. This includes the skill to compose clear and grammatically correct emails, with a focus on concise and relevant content, ensuring effective and efficient communication
