About the Role
T9 is looking for a Finance and Control Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to our Head of Finance, this teammate will be responsible for leading our accounting operations and supporting departmental planning activities, requiring them to have a strong foundation in accounting principles while also leading with a strategic and analytical mindset. This teammate should be highly collaborative, a clear and direct communicator, and have a drive to learn and grow. This position will be based in our Emeryville, CA office Monday-Thursday with the ability to work remotely on Fridays.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead monthly financial reporting activities outlined below resulting in the publishing of financial statements:
Plan the monthly close calendar and proactively leading a phased approach to an accelerated close timeframe
Administrate subledger activities, leading GL reconciliations, preparing/reviewing JEs
Engage department budget leads to understand actual variances to Budget and LY
Share financial statement highlights with the CEO and President
Support the Head of Finance to manage in-season budgets with department leads to achieve T9s financial plan, contributing to building out a rolling forecast model and process
Proactively identify areas of operational or process opportunity to improve financial performance and/or enable efficiencies
Oversee all aspects of vendor relationships including system set up and maintenance as well as administering timely payments, cross-training with the AP team
Independently prepare insightful financial modeling and participate in ad hoc initiatives as they arise (e.g: sales returns optimization, discounting and margin analysis, retail and warehouse variable labor productivity)
Over time, support various compliance efforts including annual external financial review, annual corporate tax return, monthly sales tax returns, workers comp audit, etc by coordinating with third party teams to provide relevant financial support to enable timely and accurate completion of work
Act as a financial steward of the company, leading with curiosity and resourcefulness

You also have:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and 4+ years of relevant work experience ideally in DTC or Retail
Proficiency with NetSuite or similar ERP systems and the ability to manipulate large data sets into concise summaries
Ninja-level excel and modeling skills
Superlative interpersonal and communication skills, specifically in translating technical accounting and financial concepts to non-finance teammates
Proven track record of agility and continuous improvement in your areas of ownership
Understanding of working on a small, dedicated team - you’ve got a growth mindset and aren’t afraid to be scrappy/adapt to evolving business needs
Experience managing remote resources a plus
