PAY RATE: $26.23 - $27.66 PER HOUR

HEAD START/EARLY HEAD START

VOALA services for children place an emphasis on Education, Literacy, and Health. The skills and confidence gained from our programs promote a stable home life and ensure a smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond. Working closely with the family unit and the community itself, we encourage the development of a positive narrative for our children providing internal voices of confidence, kindness, hope and accountability to building a stronger future.

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The Family Advocate Supervisor directs and supports the Family Advocate Floater. The Supervisor monitors and assesses the Family Advocates effectiveness in managing their caseload. This includes recruitment, enrollment of eligible families, monitoring childs attendance and engaging families in family goal setting process.

Furthermore, The Family Advocate Supervisor is a conduit between the Program Managers and the Family Advocates, and ensures that Family Advocates are able to prioritize tasks assigned by the different Program Manager areas. The Supervisor guides the Family Advocate in being able to engage community partners who provide families services, and how to refer families to internal resources that address their needs, interests, and goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Family Advocate Floaters in completing their assigned duties and ensuring:
    • Ensure Family Advocates accurately complete enrollment, end of the month paperwork and family engagement forms, and that their family files are orderly.
  • Meet with assigned Family Advocate Floaters bi-monthly to discuss successes and challenges
    • Make recommendations to the Assistant Directors of any Family Advocate weaknesses in efficiencies that need addressing.
  • Provide Strategies to the Family Advocate Floaters about engaging and enrolling families.
    • Model for them, in the field, approaches to connecting with Families, and letting families know about the benefits of Head Start and the requirements for enrolling.
    • Guide Family Advocates in finding potential locations where families with preschool-aged children might gather.
  • Advise Assistant Director of systems that affect a Family Advocate Floaters ability to prioritize the work they do with Families and children.
    • Understand and convey the main priorities for Family Advocate Floaters in the areas of ERSEA and FCE.
    • Be aware of other responsibilities and timelines each program area is providing Family Advocates Floaters, and help the Family Advocates Floaters manage their time effectively in meeting these requirements.
  • Assign and coordinate all FAs floaters to support vacant sites with SNST, IFPA, end of the paperwork and enrollment.
    • Provide on-going communication to all content teams on FA reassignments and placements which includes an updated roster.
  • Coordinate all FA meetings and Child Plus User Groups in collaboration with all content teams.
  • Coordinate all new FA hire training and ensure training checklist is complete. This includes email address and child plus access.
  • Travel is required to all supported sites, and other locations while supervising FA.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
  • Valid California Driver License or have means to other easily accessible transportation.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proof at the time of hire
    • TB clearance within 6 months prior
    • Annual Influenza vaccination (between Aug 1 Dec 1)
    • Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization
  • Health screening at the time of employment
  • Requires ability to interact with children in a busy environment including, but not limited to:
    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Frequently kneel and squat
    • Ability to move quickly

EDUCATION:

  • B.A Degree Social Services or equivalent field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimal 6 month of experience monitoring & tracking data.
  • Minimum of 3 to 6 months of case work management
  • Experience networking with community partners

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree Human Development or related field
  • Direct experience working with families in an at risk Program, and evidence of interaction with culturally diverse low-income population.
  • Bilingual English /Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Have an invested interest in the community for recruitment purposes.
  • Demonstrate S.M.A.R.T. Goal setting for families.
  • Knowledge of Data system Child Plus & for monitoring purposes.
  • Strong ability to monitor staff effectiveness and the ability to mentor and coach staff
