Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 Years old
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Must be available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Weekends on occasion
- 3 + Experience working with underserved, high-risk, and isolated populations.
- Understanding of de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution and personal safety skills and procedures.
- Must be able to work independently and demonstrate ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Experience with outreach and advocacy
- Ability to collect, manage and compile data for reporting purposes.
- Knowledgeable and comfortable using social media.
- Proficiency in operating computers using Windows-based programs, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software in a standard indoor office environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports, recommendations, and correspondence.
- This position is heavily weighed on the human relations side. It is necessary to be skilled at cultivating meaningful relationships with the public, branch, and community members.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- AA in social work, Child Development, Psychology, Public Health, Health Education and or related fields.
- Early Childhood Development, Parenting support, case management and program reporting.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish
- Experience with Trauma Informed practices

- All employees working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationship over minors. Fingerprints will be taken upon commencement of employment and will be submitted to the Association Office human resources department prior to beginning the first day of work.
- Staff working on SFUSD campuses will be required to complete additional COVID safety trainings and may be required to get tested for COVID-19 regularly per SFUSD requirements.
- Everyone will be required to comply with the most recent requirements from the YMCA of San Francisco, CDC, State, County and City, and to be in compliance regarding vaccinations. Outside organizations such as SFUSD may require staff to be fully vaccinated.
Pay Range$18.00 to $23.00
Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The position works within the Bayview YMCA Family Resource Center. The overall goal of the Family Advocate is to engage and connect families to needed resources and services to promote family stability and functioning, self-sufficiency, and wellness. Proactive engagement skills are essential in assisting and connecting the residents to utilizing community resources to support family stability. The position is specifically to provide coverage for our supervised visits; whereas, the Family Advocate supervise visits between children and birth family members and provide written notes of the family visits. This position work hours are from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 11:00 – 7:30pm. On occasions there will be a need for Saturday coverage of a visit and/or tabling for special events and activities. Flexibility is a must.
