POSITION SUMMARY
Develops and conducts outreach to families and agency partners to inform them about services associated with the EHS program as well as related eligibility and wait list information. Identifies and maintains relationships with local community assets and resources. Educates families about available resources and activities that promote child development, family sustainability, education and health for children 0-3 years old.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Establish positive, supportive and reciprocal relationships with families, children, and community resources.
- Conducts outreach to families through one-to-one contacts, socializations, school meetings, and local events and via flyer distribution.
- Conducts outreach visits to agencies and other community places with the purpose of recruiting families into the EHS wait list.
- Refers children and families to community resources as needed.
- Participate in conducting and/or assisting with EHS program community assessments.
- Keeps appropriate data and files on families, outreach conducted and assist in program evaluation.
- Provide overall program information and health education content at workshops, school meetings and other events.
- Develops knowledge of clinics and health insurance enrollment programs.
- Full-time Flexible hours (some evenings and Saturdays will be required).
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings and other department and staff programs.
- Represent LAEP and EHS at community meetings as requested.
- Participate in other related LAEP sponsored community and staff meetings to link the EHS Program to other programs and community resources.
- Participate in reflective supervision meetings with Director.
- Attend EHS meetings and relevant trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
No supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- BA or Associate degree in human services, child development or social service related field, preferred
- Experience working in the community and supporting families with young children
- Good computer skills required. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work and Excel)
- Strong communication and organizational skills and interpersonal.
- Ability to work with diverse groups, commitment to building relationships with parents/ guardians and community groups
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS (IF APPLICABLE)
- Daily driving is required. Must provide own vehicle, valid Driver's License and proof of full vehicle insurance coverage
- First Aid certification and Child CPR certification required.
- Health Exam required
- Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization
- Negative tuberculosis screen required
- Hepatitis B Vaccination (recommended)
- Must pass a criminal background check.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY & WORK COMPLEXITY
Tasks are highly interrelated and simple. Work consists of standard procedures and tasks. May include a high percentage of manual duties. No responsibility for budget, revenues, and/or expenditure authority. (SIMPLE & NO AUTHORITY/ RESPONSIBILITY)
SCOPE & RANGE OF INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT, DECISION MAKING, & PROBLEM-SOLVING
Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making. Refers most problems to supervisor. (DECISIONS SKILLS NOT REQUIRED)
