We are currently looking for an experienced, motivated individual with excellent communication and coordination skills and demonstrated knowledge in project management to fill the position of Projects Group Manager for CRC. While candidates can have a home office in either Bakersfield or Long Beach it is expected that a significant portion of time will be spent in Bakersfield, given that the majority of the team and projects are located there.
The base annual salary for this posted position is reasonably expected to range from $208K to $267K, with a target annual bonus of 30% of base salary and eligibility to participate in our long-term incentive program. Your actual level and base salary, however, will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

The team reporting to the Projects Group Manager currently includes 3 full-time Project Managers, 5 construction Specialists and a construction Team Lead. Informally this position managers and mentors engineers from other groups that are managing capital projects on a part time basis.
Responsibilities
Lead functions include, but are not limited to:
- Set and communicate direction for the Facilities Projects team and facilities capital project management at large
- Accountable for safely and efficiently delivering the facilities capital budget and portfolio of projects, which is roughly $55MM in total Capital across CRC in 2023.
- Communicate and advise other groups throughout the company as needed for individual projects or the larger portfolio
- Lead the annual capital budgeting process for Facilities Projects including development support, compliance and production assurance (CPA), and return projects.
- Take a lead role in supporting the life of field development plans and early-stage project development
- Advise and when needed engage on individual projects as needed to help ensure successful delivery/execution
- Oversee and collaborate with the construction superintendent on contracting strategy, construction management, and safety.
- Mentor and develop projects managers that are both on and off the team
- Implement and evolve the project management process
- Drive continuous improvement of cost, schedule and quality of Facilities Projects
- Cooperate & coordinate with other departments in the company
- Develop efficient workflows that ensure all stake holders are engaged, aligned and executing required tasks
- Perform resource planning across the portfolio of projects
- Oversee vendor strategy with Supply Chain and vendor selection for engineering, procurement and construction services across the facilities capital portfolio
- Request the employment of expert consultants, when deemed necessary
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and standards
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Science, Civil or Electrical Engineering
- Ten plus (10 ) years of similar experience, in a related field of Project Management and/or Facilities Engineering/Design
- Knowledgeable of project management and project controls principals including critical path scheduling, cost estimation, and earned value, risk, and stakeholder management
- Knowledgeable of oil, water and gas treatment technologies as they relate to produced water treatment, heat exchange; pumps and compressors, piping and pipeline design, piping codes, standards and material specifications and process control basics
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and to design innovative separation processes and equipment
- Communication and interpersonal skills, as required in working effectively with internal and external stakeholders, team members and departments
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, including safety considerations in engineering design, recommendations, and operability
- Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information and in the time required
- Demonstrated ability to work within multidiscipline team environment
- Must have a valid driver's license & a clean DMV record
Preferred qualifications
- Certified (PMP) Project Management Professional
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project
- Ability to represent the company's interests with vendors and contract technical staff.
- Understanding current California regulatory requirements as they relate to Oil and Gas projects
