Position Summary:
Provide technical support for reliable facilities systems services to manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and process technology, through sustaining and project engineering.
The current opening will be responsible for sustaining and improving the HVAC systems that support the site. This includes air handlers, boilers, chillers, and cooling towers. Other equipment such as exhaust systems and scrubbers also fall under the responsibility of this position as well as supporting capital projects throughout the site.
Decision-Making:

  1. Decide on modifications for facilities systems, develop corrective action plans for all potential situations that could adversely affect the facilities and the safe operation or maintenance of the facilities. This includes regular monitoring and inspection of the facilities systems to determine maintenance and replacement requirements.
  2. Plan, control and execute engineering and preventative maintenance program and projects within the facilities area according with acceptable engineering practices.
  3. Decide on equipment alternatives, evaluate vendor data for equipment and vendor selection. Decide on design and construction milestones and manage those schedules.
  4. Evaluate construction and design documents and determine acceptability for Siltronic.

Major Responsibilities:
  1. Ownership and control of specification and drawings for the assigned facilities systems. Modify the systems as necessary to improve the process, reliability and sustaining cost reductions.
  2. Establish and maintain good working relationship with all suppliers and vendors and with production and process decision makers within Siltronic along with maintenance and facilities personnel in order to facilitate problem resolution on the assigned facilities systems.
  3. Monitor usage of each assigned facilities system and report to main cost centers. Report abnormal trends to user groups. Provide necessary data for budget and cost control processes.
  4. Monitor, audit and inspection of the assigned facilities systems.
  5. Act as the Project Engineer / Manager for capital projects associated with the assigned facilities system and other areas as assigned. Responsibilities include cost estimation, cost control, design, detail scope of work, construction management, report writing and forecasting.
  6. Serve as technical specialist and consultant for the organization in the application of new methods, technologies and solution to problems of exceptional difficulty and marked importance to the company. Investigate outage issues within the facilities and be the point of contact with our utility provider.
  7. Plan, control and execute engineering projects.
  8. Prepare project proposals and requests for funding.
  9. Prepare project specifications and scope of work for consultants and contractors.
  10. Select vendors, consultants, and contractors.
  11. Control projects' cost, schedules and quality. Preventative maintenance instructions.
  12. Perform exact engineering calculations and analyze run data.
  13. Review vendor products.
  14. Maintain catalog library.

Position Requirements:
  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineer preferred. Graduation from an accredited school of engineering.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience or two (2) years of Siltronic on the job training and passed professional engineer fundamentals exam.
  3. Working knowledge of facilities and building management systems.
  4. Familiar with 480 VAC, three (3) phase and lower industrial electrical systems.
  5. Experience in a manufacturing production environment.
  6. Demonstrate professional competence in the mechanical and electrical discipline and a diversity of technical knowledge in other appropriate areas of engineering
  7. Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and verbal/written communications skills. Ability to read and interpret complex documents and manuals and to present ideas to communicate technical content to various organizations. Be able to write reports and correspondence to management teams.
  8. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Skills with ACAD and other engineering specific software applications. Skills with SAP also desirable.
  9. Plant engineering experience required.
  10. Project management skills desirable.
  11. Ability to work well with others, facilitate work groups, control and document work session and meetings.
  12. Ability to deal with administrative as well as technical tasks.
  13. Occasional work required in hazardous areas involving potentially dangerous electrical power, chemicals, and stored energy,
  14. Walk and climb on and around facility equipment to conduct trouble analysis.
  15. Ability to sit, stand, walk at will, communicate via telephone, & use the computer for various amounts of time throughout the day.
