Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- 2+ years of experience working in either design or construction of facilities. Labs, Semiconductor, and/or Critical Facility Construction is preferred.
- Professional Engineering License or Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred.
- Proficient use of MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
- History of strong client relations and people management skills.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills are fundamental.
- Skills to identify issues and proactively respond to project issues.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to exchange information with senior management, service providers, workers, and contractors.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide projects and sustaining mechanical engineering support as a Mechanical or Chemical System Owner
Sustaining engineering responsibilities:
o Troubleshooting mechanical system problems; coordinating shutdowns;
o Systematic problem solving;
o statistical validation of system performance;
o providing mechanical load and capacity data;
o dealing with utilities rates and system issues;
o Delivering operational efficiency, maintenance, testing and commissioning solutions; justifying capital budgets for system upgrades and energy conservation measures;
o providing technical leadership to IFM and contractors;
Projects engineering responsibilities:
o Handling facilities work orders for mechanical installations in test floors, labs and general office areas;
o effective collaboration with Project Managers, architects, engineers and contractors on new construction/renovation projects;
o reviewing mechanical design specifications, submittals, studies and drawings;
o possessing thorough knowledge of facilities mechanical systems including exhaust systems, supply and return air, chilled water, process cooling water, and general plumbing and mechanical systems.
o ability to review/provide cost estimates, budgets and ROI analysis;
o ability to work on multiple projects and issues concurrently;
o possess good knowledge of the latest mechanical codes with ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
o Leading and working in a project team environment is essential.
Additional duties may include:
o Help maintain the facilities document control system by ensuring mechanical as-built drawings are incorporated into the master CAD drawings;
o ensure mechanical system diagrams are up to date and all construction specifications, as-builts, O&M manuals and submittals are received after project close out;
o help maintain and organize the document control storage area for fast retrieval of information (drawings, specifications, manuals, etc.);
o work closely with Project Managers, contractors and engineers on project design and close out documentation;
o coordinate and oversee work of external consultant's CAD support;
o provide design and industrial engineering support on projects; organize, set up and maintain a CAD/document control system.
