Another Source’s client, Washington State University (WSU) – Tri Cities, is recruiting a Facilities Director to join their team on their Tri-Cities Campus.  As a leadership role, the expectation is to be on-site. As you settle into the role, the team is open to conversations around limited hybrid flexibility.

Washinton State University (WSU) offers a comprehensive compensation and benefit package. The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $86,000.00 - $125,000.00. Relocation assistance may be offered for this role.

About the role: 

The Facilities Director is a member of the Finance & Administration leadership team and reports to the Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration. The Facilities Director is expected to effectively lead and manage the campus Facilities Services department while creating a positive and supportive service-focused culture. The Facilities Director oversees long-range planning and management of facilities and is responsible for the maintenance, custodial, and grounds services on the Tri-Cities campus. The Facilities Director also provides strategic direction and leadership to the campus in areas such as energy efficiency, resource conservation, recycling, and campus accessibility.This position is directly involved with the university’s capital budget process and works with the Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration on capital planning initiatives including new construction, renovations, minor capital requests, and other projects. 

 

What you will be doing: 

45% Facilities Administration 

30% Management 

20% Campus Project Coordination 

5% Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, construction management, or similar field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may substitute for the education requirement. 
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas; Engineering, Construction Management and Planning, and/or facilities management. 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and project management experience 
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of one or more crafts. 
  • Experience coordinating with and/or acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies. 
  • Demonstrated success in organizational planning and management skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience with Bargaining Unit employees. 
  • Must have or be able to obtain at the time of hire, a valid driver’s license. 
  • Be willing to travel and work occasional weekends and evenings. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Competencies 

  • Knowledge of the University strategic plan, mission, structure, resources, policies, and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of the basic principles and practices andWSUpolicies associated with personnel management and supervision. 
  • Ability to manage the overall operations of the facilities department. 
  • Knowledge of the areas of budgeting, contract administration, maintenance, and repair procedures essential to the upkeep of building facilities. 
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures and the ability to direct the work of others. 
  • Skill and ability to manage multiple projects. 
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to develop and monitor budgets. 
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and deal with frequent interruptions. 
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to prioritize demands and projects efficiently and effectively. 
  • Skill and ability to apply information in stressful situations. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to work and interact effectively in a positive, professional manner with a wide variety of peers, administrators, faculty, students, and the public. 
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team. 
  • Skill in organizing and expressing ideas in oral and written communication. 
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies. 
  • Ability and willingness to share ideas, to be open to the ideas of others, work toward organizational goals and interests.
