The City of Seattle Finance and Administrative Services Department (FAS) is seeking a dynamic, strategic, results-oriented leader to guide the FAS Facility Operations team. The Facility Operations Division oversees diverse business lines comprised of property management, customer service and data management, janitorial, mail distribution, warehousing, facilities maintenance and asset planning.

ABOUT FAS FACILITY OPERATIONS:
FAS is the backbone of the City of Seattle and a dynamic organization comprised of ten divisions and 450+ employees that provides $375 million a year in services to the City through an exciting portfolio of lines of businesses. FAS Facility Operations manages the City's centralized real estate portfolio and worksites that total over 3 million square feet spread across over 120 properties. FAS' property portfolio includes the Seattle Municipal Tower, Seattle Justice Center, Seattle City Hall, the City's police precincts, over 30 fire stations, and the Seattle Animal Shelter just to name a few.
- Oversees all functions of the Facility Operations Division including about 90 FTEs and four direct reports representing business lines of Facilities Maintenance (Plumbing, HVAC/Building Controls, Electrical, and Carpentry/Paint Shops), Property Management, Customer Service, Data Management, Security, Janitorial, Mail Distribution, Warehousing and Asset Planning.
- Models and builds a positive and inclusive team culture within the division that centers on a welcoming, inviting and productive work environment.
- Oversees, plans, and tracks a $70 million budget in conjunction with department priorities.
- Provides strategic direction and oversight for planning, budgeting, and implementing projects.
- Develops a deep understanding of the FAS property portfolio and projects stays current on key issues and communicates as needed to appropriate audience.
- Serves as key member of FAS leadership team, advises the FAS Chief Operating Officer (COO) and executive team regarding operational concerns, and communicates relevant information up and down the management chain. Reports to, and works closely with, FAS COO.
- Mentors and develops FO leadership staff, ensures succession planning. Fills key vacancies including in hard-to-fill positions in trades.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with City facility stakeholders, supports inter-departmental teamwork, emphasizes customer relations and communication, and develops strong relationships with tenant customers.
- Represents the division in various forums including presentations to the FAS Director's Office, Mayor's Office and other stakeholders.
- Serves in a primary leadership role during emergency activations.
- Five (5) years of experience providing strategic guidance and leadership to facilities-related topics, managing capital-related projects and overseeing a complex budget;
- Five (5) years of experience successfully leading teams across a range of business lines; and
- Current Washington State Driver's License or evidence of equivalent mobility.
The most successful candidates will have:
- 5+ years in property management, facility maintenance and capital work, while supporting a diverse customer base with competing needs.
- Demonstrated people management experience including concrete examples of developing an inclusive and equitable work culture and building and leading strong teams.
- The ability to coach, mentor and develop a diverse group of employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proven experience partnering with other divisions and departments to accomplish shared goals.
- Hands-on experience providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills and the ability to relay technical topics to a variety of audiences in an understandable way.
- Proven project management, analytical and organizational skills.
- The ability to identify, manage and resolve highly sensitive matters, both internally and externally.
- Experience adapting to changing priorities and adjusting to different management styles.
- Understanding of finance and budget such as analysis and planning of limited resources to property management and portfolio management.
This position is classified as an Executive 2 and is exempt from Civil Service and FLSA guidelines. The full salary range for this job classification is $56.58 - $93.64 hourly.

Work Environment
This position requires a minimum of three days per week of onsite work at the Seattle Municipal Tower. During the initial training period, additional onsite days may be required. Alternative Work Arrangements and hybrid telework schedules for work conducted in a normal office environment may be considered and will be based on operational needs and consistency with FAS and City policies.
