Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) provides leadership and guidance in the integration of nursing and clinical practice with clinical information systems to improve patient care across the health system. The CNIO provides leadership in all aspects of nursing informatics while supporting the processes of strategic planning, design and development of information management processes within the organization. The CNIO will serve as a liaison between senior leadership and clinical leadership to ensure that clinical information system implementation and maintenance will support strategic and operational nursing and allied health goals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Provide administrative leadership and direction to Clinical Information System teams to ensure that HSOs are adequately supported at the local level.
  • Ensure technology-based solutions are aligned with the overall enterprise objectives of clinical workflow to facilitate the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based patient care; Work with Health Information Partners and BJC Information Systems to foster the optimization of the integrated electronic health record and other systems that affect direct patient care.
  • Research clinical technology that supports safe patient practices, and a commitment to operational innovation and Clinical Workflow Initiatives.
  • Lead the system Nursing Informatics Council to support nursing practice development, clinical education, and translation of clinical information technology into sustainable processes.
  • Oversee the use of advanced analytics and clinical decision support to drive continuous improvement in clinical care delivery.
