About the Role:
King County Parks has an exciting Customer Service Specialist II Term Limited Temporary/Special Duty Assignment opportunity for someone who is interested in gaining experience in event management and working closely with event producers, external stakeholders, and Parks staff to plan, support and coordinate public events this summer. This position will support the coordination of summer events such as the King County Parks Big Backyard 5k, Movies at Marymoor, King County Parks Big Backyard Movies, CHOMP!, Skyway Outdoor Cinema, and Refuge Outdoor Festival from planning stages all the way through to implementation.
This position performs work remotely and onsite.

About the Team:
The property management and business revenue business unit manage activities and partnerships that generate earned revenue, provide customer support of activities happening across the parks system, and support property management and real estate services primarily related to land use approvals and special use permitting for activities on Parks' land.

  • Assist with planning, implementation, and production of special events including event partner relationships, event planning meetings, marketing plans, budgets, and event logistics.
  • Ensure all event deliverables are reviewed, submitted, and executed by event partner in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate event planning meetings and provide guidance to Parks staff and/or volunteers involved in event planning and execution.
  • Maintain the event's timeline, budget, progress, status, and post event summary.
  • Attend events to oversee activities and ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
Qualifications You Bring:
  • Demonstrated experience with event planning and/or implementation.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and dedication to assisting both internal and external partners.
  • Ability to organize and oversee multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience and technique as an effective communicator.
  • The ability to apply equity and social justice concepts and principles to this work.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:
  • Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically monthly. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104). This work arrangement promotes work-life-balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department's vision of Green Where We Work.
  • Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position requires working weekends and weeknights and needed. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
  • Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.
  • Duration: This recruitment aims to fill a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position anticipated the last six months. If the position is filled by a King County employee who has successfully completed their initial probation, they will be offered the role as a Special Duty Assignment.
