Come discover the behind the scenes work involved to export horses overseas. The ETA office at Hagyard works as a liaison between all the major export companies and the veterinarians to insure that horses are able to travel in a timely fashion. You will learn about all of the details involved in equine export.
The role of an assistant in the ETA department is varied and seasonally the workload changes. You will learn a variety of information pertinent to all aspects of the horse industry and exactly how to assist the veterinarians to accomplish the ultimate goal. ETA stands for efficient, timely and accurate which is what we hope to achieve in everything we do.; We work hand in hand with the veterinarians to provide paperwork such as health certificates and veterinary exams for mortality insurance and test results that are accurate and detail oriented.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary role and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Process a variety of completed paperwork.
- Process incoming laboratory samples.
- Prepare insurance forms.
- Prepare Coggins forms for export blood work and distribute to the doctors.
- Handle incoming fax, email or phone contact from clients.
- Process interstate health certificates, two times weekly.
- Assist with office equipment needs and ordering supplies.
- Assist with processing incoming EVA samples and sales results.
- Assist with processing incoming reports from University of KY Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
- Assist with daily posting of mail.
- Receive training on the requirements and the process of import and export of horses.
- Additional projects and duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proficient with the computer and all Microsoft programs
- Flexible
- Able to work in fast-paced environment
- Able to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communicator
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
