Equipment Coordinator Job Description
The Emergency Medical Service Laboratory Assistant works collaboratively and effectively with CEC staff to provide program students with an influential learning experience and to promote teamwork and student success. This position provides various forms of support to course instructors by performing a variety of functions under the supervision of the Program Director and instructors. Functions include preparation for laboratory sessions, maintenance and repair of equipment, set up and take downs of Massachusetts state practical exams and stocking, cleaning, maintenance and coordination of the mobile simulation lab. Will assist in orientation by creating ID’s and other tasks to assist with onboarding.
Equipment Coordinator Responsibilities
- Assist the instructor in the oversight of all laboratory activities for a specific course
- Maintain a safe and supportive atmosphere for all students including acquisition and disseminating personal protective equipment
- Follow and enforce safety guidelines at all times
- Assist with the set-up of needed equipment, materials and supplies for each lab session under the supervision of the course instructor and/or the EMS Program Director
- Assist with laboratory clean up and in ensuring that the laboratory space is left clean, neat and organized
- Be familiar with all procedures and skills involved in each laboratory session
- Attend all scheduled laboratory sessions
- Attend meetings and training as scheduled by the course instructor or program coordinator
- Be familiar with and understand OEMS and CoAEMSP protocols
- Coordinate with Administrative Assistant purchase of needed equipment
- Perform appropriate care and maintenance of high and low fidelity manikins as directed by the Program Director and/or instructor
- Follow CEC policies and procedures
- Oversee and direct all activities relative to management, operation and upgrade of the simulation labs and equipment including compliance with federal, state and professional standards.
- Maintain list of equipment needs and budget requirements including budget creation.
- Oversee maintenance and function of program equipment including the Mobile Simulation Lab.
- Meet with equipment vendors and make requests for new or upgrades to IT equipment and software as needed.
- Identify purchase requirements to maintain classes.
- Any other duties assigned
Equipment Coordinator Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Graduate
- MA Licensed EMT
- Familiar with training aids/manikins/educational equipment
- Experience in any field requiring exceptional organizational skills and excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver's license
- EMT License or higher
- Must display professionalism in dress, demeanor, and attitude to present a positive learning environment for the students, associate faculty, and training center.
Equipment Coordinator Job Preferred Qualifications
- Paramedic/EMT Instructor Coordinator License
- Experience with education standards in other associated fields
- Approved Instructor for ACLS, PALS, PEPP, CPR, PHTLS, AMLS, GEMS, EPC
- National Registry/Mass State Advanced or Paramedic Certification, current certification in ACLS, PALS, PEPP, CPR, PHTLS, AMLS, GEMS, EPC.
