Equipment Management

$62,000 - $65,000

REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager


POSITION SUMMARY:


The Equipment Manager position is responsible for maintaining a medical and dental equipment database for: equipment inventory, repairs, preventative maintenance, inspection records, warranty information, and repair status. The individual will coordinate and track equipment maintenance and repairs with subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians and, when appropriate, may troubleshoot equipment issues using manufactures manual, repair and install some equipment. The individual demonstrates adherence to the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center core values in all professional interactions.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military training preferred or two years of equivalent experience.
  • Technical Certification (CBET) preferred
  • Minimum 2-year experience working with medical and dental equipment in a clinical environment.
  • Valid driver's license required; variable travel requirements to off- site locations that may require use of personal vehicle.


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE BASE:

  • Complex computer skills including the ability to manage an equipment software tracking system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong written, and verbal communication skills.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Professional Behavior

Technical Service

  • Coordinates and monitors performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on highly complex and intricate biomedical equipment.
  • Coordinates the repair and installation of equipment with outside vendors and may repair and install some equipment.
  • Monitors and inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns.
  • Work with, directs, and documents the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, maintenance schedules, repair tracking and service history.
  • Adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.

Account Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Keep clinicians and staff informed of equipment repair status.
  • Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization(s) served.

Inventory

  • Perform periodic inspections of current inventory status.
  • Verify the completion of safety and inspection for new equipment.
  • Performs inspections to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of medical devices, status, including trial and evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment in addition to permanently assigned equipment inventory.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, inspection records, warranty information and service history.
  • Make recommendations regarding repair/replacement of equipment inventory.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


Works in a busy community health center in and urban neighborhood. Physical demands require walking and lifting packages and equipment (up to 50 lbs.). Walking and/or driving between health center buildings for delivery/distribution of mail, supplies and equipment. Interruptions are present and can be disruptive to work flow. Stress is present due to high volume of work, diversified nature of activities and frequent deadlines. Preforms other employee duties to cover for staff absences. Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading. Hearing acuity sufficient for holding conversations with or without audio devices.

BNHC is committed to providing a safe and heathy environment for patients and staff. As a condition of employment, employees, to include new hires, are required to be fully vaccinated to include the most recent COVID 19 booster and annual flu vaccines, with the exception of those who have documented medical or religious exemptions, that must be approved by BNHC according to its protocols. Additional vaccines may be required based on the recommendation of the CDC. New hires who are not yet vaccinated for flu or COVID can arrange to be vaccinated on site.
