Position Objective
This position comprehensively drives Jack Doheny’s Service initiative – inclusive of program development and coordination, through the supervision of service technicians ensuring all service work is completed in a timely, efficient, and safe manner to program evaluation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess workload each day, prioritizing tasks, jobs and communicating with service technicians on responsibilities
- Act as a first point of contact for all customers, collecting information, quoting and ensuring that a timely and courteous response is made to all service requests
- Handles customer questions and complaints regarding service work and repairs
- Ensure that all shop supplies used in the service departments are stocked and in place at all times, requesting and ordering any needed
- Responsible for the installation of GPS Systems and when trucks are due for service work
- Responsible to maintain as needed all company autos, tow motors, tractors and all other machinery located at the company branch
- Employees are working safely, following all safety rules and working in a safe environment
- Perform equipment check-in and check-out for rental equipment and trucks when needed
- Assist with the troubleshooting of class 8 and class 7 trucks along with the Vacuum Module System
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on all branch service and maintenance equipment when needed, teaching other service technicians and guiding them on a daily basis
- Responsible for all Fleet maintenance and readiness of trucks
- Inspect physical condition of shop & equipment, ensuring all they are up to code and working properly
- Understand and enforce all company policies and procedures
- Ensure service garage is cleaned weekly and presentable at all times
- Act as a lead technician: mentoring, training and guiding maintenance technicians on best practices and industry and JDC standards
- Maintain a current working knowledge of industry standards, policies, procedures and best practices
- Responsible for the scheduling, training and direct supervision of all mechanics
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Analyze, assist and resolve work problems with department employees
- Responsible for daily scheduling and labor estimates
- Enforce the company uniform policy, ensuring a professional appearance and for all service and maintenance employees
- Ensure all employees are compliant with applicable Federal, State, OSHA and DOT audits and compliance

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience in a Heavy Equipment/truck dealership environment
- 5 years of experience supervising or managing a team in a shop environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (listening, verbal and written) internally and externally
- Working knowledge of MS Office (word, excel, etc.)
- Experience working with NDS software
- Manual dexterity skills
- Current Class B CDL is preferred
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems (including electrical schematic) must be able to repair and troubleshoot
- Proficient with computer systems diagnostic equipment
- Able to operate all types of testing devices, as well as all shop machinery and equipment
- The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Apply the proper safety/security practices according to established protocols, guidelines, and policies
- Must maintain the ability to effectively read and interpret company documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Write routine reports and correspondence in a clear and concise manner
The individual in this position will interact with employees and managers in other departments and locations at Jack Doheny Company. Receiving and reacting to directions other than from your immediate supervisor will be required periodically. Conversely, there will also be time when the person in this position must give directions to other.
