As an Equipment Inventory Coordinator and Technician, you will play a vital role in providing the equipment needed to treat patients throughout the hospital. Some of your primary responsibilities include:
• Perform targeted rounding in active patient areas to recover assets for processing and redistribution.
• Clean, triage, troubleshoot, repair and deliver specified medical devices and equipment.
• Complete performance verification and preventative maintenance.
• Document all work functions in electronic database(s).
• Assist with, and/or lead, special projects including new equipment deployment.
This position is within our Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute (HVTI). This unit handles more than 300 outpatients and has 22-30 inpatient beds. In this role, you will:
  • Interacting with patients who have a heart pump (left ventricular assist device or Impella temporary pump).
  • Work closely with OR and profusion staff to ensure those teams have the pumps needed.
  • Order equipment for discharged patients and ensure they know how to operate the device while at home.
  • Order all equipment in the vendor management system.
  • Manage any recalled equipment.

• Has experience with Epic, Excel and vendor management sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Delivers, triages and recovers specified medical devices.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs specified medical devices.
  • Documents work activity in an electronic database.
  • Assists with, and/or leads, special projects as designated.
  • May be required to orders supplies and ensure adherence to unit/department budget
  • May be required to stock patient rooms or deploy supplies for use within unit/department
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate's degree preferred.

Certifications:
  • None required.

Complexity of Work:
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:
  • One year hospital medical device logistics/repair experience required.
  • Additional years of experience in hospital operations, logistics or related military training may substitute for medical device experience.
  • Training in operations, lean/Six Sigma, and/or process improvement desired.
  • Must be proficient with usage of web applications, databases, and spreadsheets.

Physical Requirements:
  • Typical physical demands and hazards include ability to perform duties while standing, sitting, stooping, and reaching for prolonged periods of time; ability to lift equipment weighing in excess of 50 pounds on a continual basis.

Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
