Schylling is looking for a Product Development Engineer to guide our products through the entire project life cycle. As Product Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to use your technical knowledge and organizational skills to design, develop, and coordinate the manufacture of projects. The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for driving the technical execution of toy, gift, and novelty lighting products, from concept through production, and ensuring performance, cost, quality, and schedule adherence. Key Responsibilities:
- The role will be responsible for overseeing and guiding the entire project life cycle, from initial concept to final delivery.
- You will lead the technical development of products, in collaboration with our Product Designers, defining product specifications, identifying risks and opportunities to pre-empt development hurdles.
- The Product Development Engineer will work closely with our Product Development, Operations and Marketing teams and coordinate with contract manufacturers.
- You will be a key point of contact with our contract manufacturers, predominantly in China, sourcing, vetting and developing new suppliers as needed.
- Collaborate with Product Development on generating new concepts, and provide technical support, feasibility analysis, proof-of-concept models, cost assessment, and risk assessment on all projects.
- Oversee project milestones and coordinate with teams to ensure products are delivered on-cost, on-spec, on-time.
- Lead product review meetings and create action plan for technical deliverables.
- Continuously monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion. Identify and troubleshoot technical issues throughout the project life cycle.
- The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to think critically and innovatively.
- Drive productivity and efficiency by implementing new processes and looking for continuous improvement to current procedures.
- Periodic travel to China and other international and domestic manufacturing facilities.
Qualifications:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 10 years Product Engineering / project management experience.
- Toy or CPG Product Development experience.
- Experience with contract manufacturing of plastics, soft goods, electronics, and other processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team.
