We are currently looking for an engineering professional to join our multidisciplinary team. This position will offer the right person opportunities to work on a broad range of projects, primarily related solid waste management and associated infrastructure and environmental monitoring and compliance. Water, municipal, community development, power & utilities, renewable energy, oil & gas, food & beverage, higher education, manufacturing, metals & mining, transportation and environment/natural resources related projects are also potential opportunities. Previous consulting or environmental engineering related experience is highly preferable.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, embraces teamwork, and has the desire to grow and develop professionally. This position will be involved in managing, performing, and supporting environmental engineering project work as a team member on larger project teams working closely with a senior engineer/project manager and also charged as the team lead depending on the size and scope of the projects, serving as the project manager and/or certifying engineer.
Your Key Responsibilities- Work with multidisciplinary teams to undertake solid waste management infrastructure projects related to their planning, design and engineering.
- Manage and lead technical work.
- Prepare technical reports, concept designs, construction specifications, construction drawings, bidding documents, and permit applications for approvals.
- Data management, monitoring, and reporting for environmental compliance purposes including groundwater monitoring, solid waste operations, or other industrial facility requirements related to air, water, and waste.
- Liaise with clients and sub-consultants and ensure that the project's/client's needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
- Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
- Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
- Professional engineering design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Identify applicable environmental regulations and assist with facility compliance tasks for air quality, hazardous waste, storm water, Tier II reporting, TRI reporting, wastewater, spill planning, etc.
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
- Review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, and performs other contract administration tasks.
- Assist with proposal development.
- Understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with attention to detail; time management skills.
- Excellent client relation skills and be able to coordinate effectively with team members. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with AutoCAD, HELP modeling, and HydroCAD software will be an asset. Experience and working knowledge in BlueBeam Revu, preferred.
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, business development activities, etc. Travel for multiple days (overnight travel) on occasion for meetings and to support project teams in other offices may be required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineer or related field from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 6 to 12 months
- Minimum of 3-4 years of progressive Civil Engineering design experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
