Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 45 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.
PURPOSE: Our custom injection molding facility is seeking an entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to support production as needed and our tooling department. Experience of one to two years or less is preferred. The principal responsibility will be to design end-of-arm tooling and fixtures using SolidWorks. Leverage our internal 3D printing capabilities when necessary to assist with components requiring a fast turnaround. As required, assist current engineering personnel with CAD modeling.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design/Development assembly fixtures, gauges, and robotic end-of-arm tooling
- Ability read part drawings
- Experience using 3D printer is preferred
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred
- Manage end-of-arm tooling component inventory
- Knowledge of GD&T is preferred
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met
- Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency
- Document and maintain accurate records of design processes and project developments
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- AS or BS degree in Engineering is preferred but not required
- Excellent math skills, including advanced geometry, calculus, and physics
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision
- Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
- Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours
- Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
