Summer Intern - Mechanical Engineer, Hague Road Technical Center - Indianapolis, Indiana
As an Allegion Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will contribute meaningful work and make a direct impact to the Mechanical Engineering Competency. You will gain valuable experience in defining and scoping requirements for products, supporting the mechanical design process including detailed design, prototyping, testing, and integration into a larger system. Additional opportunities include learning egress, door control, and accessory hardware products and their associated applications.

What You Will Do:

• Deepen your understanding of mechanical design including learning Allegion's Mechanical Design Process.
• Work with Engineering Leads to design, prototype, and validate product concepts.
• Utilize tools such as CAD (Creo), Creo Mechanism, simple force and motion analysis, and others as required in product development.
• Work with a team to produce well-rounded solutions.
• Participate in daily and other regular team meetings, including project teams.
• Deepen your understanding in basic prototyping and testing methods.
• Obtain the experience to create a foundation for growth and future opportunities with Allegion

What You Need to Succeed:

• Pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative, e.g. school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, leadership on school or work projects, etc.
• Basic mechanical understanding including Statics and Dynamics.
• Preferred knowledge of CAD tools, specifically Creo.
• Ability to work in both a team and individual setting.
• Resiliency and ability to adapt quickly.
• Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques
• A desire to learn, grow and develop by working on projects that will impact Allegion's business and customers
