Job Description
Position Description: Support engineering efforts and Construction management activities related to transportation infrastructure improvement projects including Intersection reconstruction, Road resurfacing, Parkway improvements, Sidewalk repair, Curb ramp construction, Traffic signal upgrades and Other traffic related improvements.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in managing municipal infrastructure projects across planning, design, jurisdictional approvals, environmental permitting, construction, and project close-out.
- Significant project management experience in coordinating PW infrastructure maintenance and improvement projects through all phases. This includes program planning and development, resource management, budget management and control, schedule management and control, design, and Construction administration.
- An educational background in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Work experience in project planning and development.
- Ability to independently manage all aspects of a project.
- Proficiency in managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and controlling costs.
- Ability to develop and review project schedules.
- Proficient in reviewing and coordinating the preparation of construction documents.
- Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Expertise in identifying potential project risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Experience in Design-Bid-Build project delivery.
- Experience in deferred Maintenance/Refurbishment projects.
- Knowledge of Public Contracting Code and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed professional in California, and/or Certified Construction Manager.
Required Experience:
- Conducting comprehensive plan and specifications constructability reviews.
- Efficiently reviewing, processing, and tracking Requests for Information.
- Managing the review, processing, and tracking of submittals.
- Managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Facilitating preconstruction meetings.
- Preparing and/or reviewing change orders and obtaining necessary approvals.
- Reviewing and approving contractor's pay requests.
- Coordinating all necessary activities for project close-out.
- Maintaining meticulous logs of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project-related documents.
- Preparing well-documented project reports for management.
- Ensuring accurate and up-to-date project status updates in the division's database.
- Effectively handling contractor correspondence.
- Preparing meeting agendas, proficiently running meetings, and generating precise meeting minutes.
- Working closely and cooperatively with PW project managers, designers, and inspectors to successfully deliver projects. Responsively addressing inquiries from the public, other agencies, PW staff, and stakeholders.
- Collaborating with other County departments and agencies to resolve issues and streamline planning efforts.
