Your Impact:
In this role, you will:
Advice & Counseling on Employee Relations (ER) Matters
Supervise team members and also advise on resolution on a broad range of ER matters, focusing on pragmatic approaches to resolving business issues.
Use your Employee Relations expertise to develop creative, effective solutions to often complex Employee Relations problems, issues and challenges (including hiring, compensation, promotion, performance management, disability and accommodations, leave, reductions-in-force, terminations, and severance).
Leading and Developing
- Lead and develop a team of Employee Relations advisors (ERAs) and/or investigators.
Promote a culture of continuous development, implementing and leading training and ongoing improvement for the team, including updates on employment laws, standard processes and skill building.
Collaborate with our partners in other departments and key stakeholders (e.g., Employment Law, Compliance and Internal Audit).
Proactively identify enhancements to ER processes and practices.
Investigations
- Oversee and investigate employee allegations and complaints of violations of Freddie Mac policy or applicable law.
- Maintain compliance with Freddie Mac’s policies and guidelines when conducting investigations.
Risk Mitigation
Stay current with employment laws and best practices, to support compliance and risk mitigation.
Ensure and maintain compliance with Freddie Mac’s policies and guidelines when conducting investigations.
Refresh and ensure the appropriate governance for ER matters is in place to mitigate corporate people risk.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 8 years of related ER and/or HR Generalist experience
College degree or equivalent work experience
Experience advising, counseling and making recommendations to leadership on a wide array of HR related matters
2+ years experience managing employees and leading a team
Subject matter expertise in relevant federal, state and local employment laws
Proven workplace investigations skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority in certain situations
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels across the enterprise
Keen attention to detail, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy
Intellectually curious and innovative problem solver
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
SHRM or HRCI certification preferred

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $111,000 - $167,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
