Overview

J.McLaughlin is a specialty American Sportswear and Accessories brand headquartered in New York. As the manager of Email/SMS content and performance strategy, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing effective campaigns to engage and captivate our audience. This person will create customer centric and data driven campaigns through a rigorous test and learn approach, with the overarching goal of delivering personalized content that will nurture the customer at each phase of their journey; discovery, engagement, consideration, conversion and retention. This individual will dig into trends, as well as the competitive landscape, to inform and identify areas for opportunity and growth, ensuring alignment with our prospective demographic and brand persona.

About the role

Essential Functions:

  • Content Strategy Development:
    • Develop a comprehensive email/SMS content strategy aligned with overall marketing objectives and brand positioning.
    • Collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure content aligns with product launches, seasonal campaigns, and promotional activities.
  • Segmentation and Targeting:
    • Utilize customer data and segmentation strategies to tailor content for specific audience segments.
    • Implement personalized and relevant messaging to enhance customer experience and drive conversion.
  • Creative Direction:
    • Provide creative briefs to in-house design teams or external agencies for visually appealing and cohesive email/SMS campaigns.
    • Ensure that the creative elements align with brand guidelines and resonate with the upscale positioning of the company.
  • Copywriting Excellence:
    • Provide copy direction to in-house copywriter for compelling and persuasive email/SMS copy that reflects the brand voice, speaks to the needs of the target audience and the value proposition of the product.
    • A/B test copy variations to optimize messaging for different customer segments.
  • Performance Analysis:
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) generated from email/SMS campaigns.
    • Use insights to refine and optimize future email/SMS content strategies.
  • Automation and Personalization:
    • Implement marketing automation workflows to deliver timely and relevant content based on customer behavior and preferences.
    • Use social platform data and in-house CRM to build audiences as needed to support further growth is personalization
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other marketing teams, merchandising, e-commerce and store teams to ensure seamless integration of email/SMS campaigns across various customer touchpoints
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align on content calendars and promotional schedules.
    • Synthesize performance for executive leadership, supplementing data with a clearly articulated roadmap for immediate and future growth, along with a narrative around emerging trends and the competitive landscape

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with ESPs, marketing platforms, and marketing automation tools required.
  • Ability to apply analysis to influence business decisions to drive performance.
  • Must be highly collaborative and work well with individuals at various levels across departments.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast paced and high growth environment.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker who is comfortable and can flex thinking in short-term and long-term goals.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized.
