Job description

We are seeking an EMAIL MARKETING MANAGER to join the Orvis Team! This is a remote position with some potential for travel to our Vermont headquarters one to two times per year.
The Email Marketing Manager will help us achieve our goals by delivering strategic, targeted/highly personalized and innovative email messages to the customer. This role is critical in driving traffic and demand to Orvis.com and Orvis Retail Stores. The role will partner closely with the Brand Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Merchandising & Ecommerce, and Creative & Editorial teams; and is a key player in the Orvis omni ecosystem.

Position Interfaces:
This role reports to the Senior Manager of Email, with no direct reports.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead & develop execution of Email Marketing content with focus on daily Scheduled Promotional Messages (SPMs), taking into consideration the brand omni-marketing and merchandising strategies, historical performance, and customer experience
  • Partner closely with the digital merchandising, brand strategy, retail, adventures & creative/editorial teams on identifying and bringing the brand marketing and product ideas to life
  • Preseason planning of email stories with focus on storytelling & differentiation of Orvis from competitors
  • Development of email cadence with the goal of driving traffic and conversion on the website and in the stores
  • Develop audience & targeting strategies using analytics to identify new segmentation approaches and/or refine existing customer segments
  • Oversee weekly email reporting and communicate key learnings including key findings/future implications
  • Partner with external partners/vendors to stay on top of industry best practices, industry changes & competitor information
  • Define balance of email personalization & dynamic content with full designed storytelling through performance KPIs and brand building focus
  • Develop omni-channel email acquisition strategy and execute against it including obtaining key partner buy in and alignment on goals
  • Develop and execute email test plans across creative, segmentation & personalization to drive the business & aesthetic forward
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with cross functional teams including digital merchandising, creative, brand marketing, retail & adventures
  • Manage quarterly email hindsight to inform future seasons & performance improvement
Competencies and Requirements:
  • 4-6 years of related marketing experience. Email marketing experience required
  • Significant experience managing a dynamic/complex email program preferred
  • Strategic & innovative thinker with passion for the customer and the ability to think creatively and analytically
  • Passion for content creation & storytelling to drive a brand
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load
  • Flexible, team player
  • Ability to analyze data and extract relevant and actionable insights.
  • Passion for the customer and retail/apparel industry
