Major Accountabilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment. Understand, follow, and support company policies, procedures (i.e., lock out/tag out, hot work, confined space, etc.) in addition to corporate and local safety initiatives. Assume responsibility for risk assessment. Manage and encourage all employees and contractors to be proactive in the area of safety, including anticipating unsafe behaviors, conditions, and unusual circumstances.
- Provide first line supervision for maintenance hourly employees and the technical expertise regarding in-plant equipment.
- Responsible for building and managing the individual daily and weekly planned work schedules to maximize maintenance operating efficiencies.
- Verify all equipment installations and existing repairs meet applicable requirement.
- Train hourly employees in proper procedures, methods and skills necessary to perform duties.
- Manage the Management of Change (MOC) in work orders under your control.
- Responsible for the function, use, and content of the plant work order and CMMS system. Review and manage the plant work order backlog and arrange for special equipment and contractor services for work orders.
- Evaluate regulatory and use of GMP requirements and effects upon the maintenance process.
- Conduct audits and review for improvement.
- Champion the MEWP process in the plant.
- Procure materials as needed for work order packages.
- Assign input codes and priorities in the CMMS to work orders as required.
- Responsible for coordinating the plant preventive maintenance program.
- Administer Collective Bargaining Agreement and Plant Policies.
- Daily schedule preparation, review, and update at scheduling meetings. Other scheduling as required.
- Conduct work order priority reviews and work order sorting for scheduling.
- Provide data for key performance indicators (KPI’s) on craft utilization, work order completion, rework, etc. for report generation as needed.
- Remain flexible and available to take on special assignments as required.
Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Food Safety Program requirements in the plant through the completion of work by the maintenance department, contractor and capital and expense projects and other improvements. Inform the Maintenance Reliability Manager and QC Manager of any issues, understanding the importance of product quality, integrity, safety, and legality.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- State of Michigan Master Electrician is desirable
- BS Degree in Engineering is desirable
- High School Diploma or Equal
- Five years of experience working in an industrial maintenance environment
- One to three years of industry planning and scheduling experience
- Strong interpersonal skills (required to establish and maintain professional trust relationships)
- Project Management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Trained and well-versed in time management
- Background and understanding of craft functions and industry practices
- Knowledge of CMMS, and applicable Morton Software
The work setting consists of a production environment with variations in temperature and noise levels. Proper PPE is required when working in the production environment.
